KYLE, Texas -- Late Tuesday night James Jacobs met with his father, the pastor at the Word of Life Christian Center, in Kyle. They gathered with the church's congregation to prepare Thanksgiving meals for those in need. They went home with filled with joy about the upcoming holiday.

But Wednesday morning, Jacobs returned in disappointment. His nonprofit bus had been vandalized and covered in graffiti.

"I was shocked. I couldn't believe it. I was shocked. I was in near tears to see cuss words on my bus," Jacobs said.

Jacob's nonprofit, Now Youth Inc. is dedicated to tutoring disadvantaged youth. They assist grade school kids in learning math and technology at no cost.

The vandals weren't able to get inside, but the damage will still likely be in the thousands.

The city said Kyle police are investigating, but they were also amazed someone would deface something intended to help kids.

"We hate to have people's personal property or belongings vandalized needlessly. Particularly in that fashion," Jerry Hendrix with the City of Kyle said.

"They even went into our generator and sprayed inside our generator, so I do not know if that works still," Jacobs said. The vandals also cut wires inside the hood of the bus.

Just a few feet away, the Word Of Life Church remained untouched. It was the only shining light in Jacob's disappointing day.

"Hate crimes should not be, not here not anywhere," Jacobs said. "I do not even know how long it will take to get it up and running again."

There is no word yet on whether this act was associated with a gang.
