AUSTIN -- Austin police have released the statistics for the recent holiday weekend "No Refusal" initiative.

Police said Thursday that they arrested 38 people for DWI between 9 p.m. and 5 p.m. New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Police say of those 38, 16 people refused to give samples of their breath or blood. A judge then signed a search warrant for them to have their blood drawn. Two people gave blood voluntarily and three people had it withdrawn involuntarily.

About 53 percent of the people arrested were at least twice the legal limit.
