AUSTIN -- Police will be out in full force over the New Year's weekend, watching for drunk drivers.
APD announced it will enforce a "No Refusal" initiative beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, through Tuesday, Jan. 1 at 5 a.m.
During the initiative, police are allowed to conduct a blood search warrant on suspected drunk drivers who refuse to give a breath or blood test.
Police say 26 percent of this year's traffic deaths have been alcohol related.
If you want to opt out of driving, the Austin Police Department and Capital Metro announced Thursday that they will team up to offer free rides on New Year's Eve starting at 6 p.m.
