At times like this even the heroes can use a little help.

Like hundreds of others, Craig Kneuper’s home in New Braunfels was flooded Wednesday.

When the water receded, many of his friends came to help in hopes of saving what he couldn’t.

“It just makes you want to cry,” said Jody Lisk as she moved boxes of Kneuper’s items from of his mud soaked home.

Clark Windel, another friend who came to help, said he never thought twice about helping Kneuper.

“I’m sure Craig would have done the same,” he said.

Based on what happened yesterday, that’s a pretty safe assumption.

Wednesday, Kneuper saved an 11-year-old girl who had been separated from her family and had fallen into the rampaging Guadalupe River.

“Anyone that would have been in my situation would have done the same thing I did ,” said Kneuper.

While he won’t let his friends call him a hero, Kneuper said it puts all in perspective and proves that there are times when everyone can use some help.
