AUSTIN -- Police are investigating a fatal accident in Central Austin.

Austin police say 59-year-old Jack Brown Henry was riding his motorcycle in the 3900 block of Guadalupe Street near 38th Street when he was hit by a car around 6 a.m Wednesday June 19.

Henry was taken to a local hospital where he died. Police say he was wearing a helmet.

Late Wednesday afternoon the Travis County Medical Examiner confirmed to KVUE Henry was the father of an Austin teen killed in May after falling 20 feet off a cliff in the Barton Creek Greenbelt.

Austin police officers say 18-year-old Alexander Henry-Ballew fell off the cliff near Campbell's Hole on May 30. He was flown to University Medical Center Brackenridge with serious head injuries. He died minutes later.

The driver who hit his father, Henry, stayed at the scene to talk with police.

The Austin Police Department says the accident occurred when it started raining in the area, and weather could have played a role.

The driver of the car was cited for failure to yield right of way, turning left.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call APD Vehicular Homicide Unit detectives at (512) 974-4724.

This is Austin’s 36th fatal traffic crash and the 37th traffic fatality of 2013. At this time in 2012, there were 38 traffic fatalities.
