Numerous law enforcement agencies including the FBI arrested 13 members of the Texas Syndicate gang and took a considerable amount of drugs off the streets.

The arrests were made earlier this month in Austin, Laredo, and Brownsville as a result of a year-long investigation dubbed "Operation Blue Ice."

Authorities say the Texas Syndicate moved 1,000 pounds of bulk marijuana, multiple pounds of methamphetamine and cocaine on a monthly basis from Mexico through the Rio Grand Valley and up to the Austin area.

More than a half ton of marijuana was seized in this month's arrests.

Law officers say it appears the Texas Syndicate is an active customer of the Gulf Cartel.
