WILLIAMSON COUNTY -- A new judge has been sworn in for the 277th District Court of Williamson County.

Governor Rick Perry appointed Stacey Mathews to replace Ken Anderson as judge. Mathews previously served as Assistant District Attorney in Harris County.

Anderson stepped down last month and faces a civil suit brought over his handling of the Michael Morton case he prosecuted in the 80s. A court of inquiry also found evidence of criminal wrongdoing.

Mathews' term will last until the next general election.
