MANOR -- Manor Police Department officers and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers are searching for a driver involved in a fatal vehicle collision in East Manor.

The accident took place on Old Kimbro Road by Highway 290.

Just before 6 Sunday morning, a car carrying four adults and one infant was stopped at a stop light when a truck, traveling at a high rate of speed, struck the car from behind.

Officials say that a female in the backseat of the vehicle struck was killed in the crash. Three adult males in the car were transported to UMC Brackenridge with injuries.

The 18-month-old child was taken by helicopter to Dell Children's Hospital in stable but critical condition.

The name of the woman killed hasn't been released at this point. Her husband was the driver and he has been notified.

The driver of the truck who struck the car fled the scene of the crash. But DPS troopers and Manor Police officers say they have a lead in the case.

This is not the first fatal accident at this intersection. Another happened earlier this year and police say there were other crashes at the same spot.

Rachel Mance, who runs the Children's Garden Learning Center near the intersection, says "It was really bad the other person was coming full speed ahead. I mean I was this close to getting hit and I could hear the screeching."

She says the crash was about two weeks ago and she thinks the intersection is so dangerous at the bottom of the incline because it sneaks up on drivers.

"Probably a mixture of people not paying attention and maybe texting and on the phone and things like that.", said Mance.
