GROESBECK, Texas (AP) -- A Central Texas man is dead after the ultralight aircraft he was flying crashed.

Trooper D.L. Wilson of the Texas Department of Public Safety reports the man was attempting a landing on a private landing strip just outside the Central Texas town of Groesbeck around midday Monday when it crashed into a wooded area.

Limestone County Justice of the Peace identified the pilot as 69-year-old Darrell Gene Sorensen of Groesbeck.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Lynn Lunsford says the crash involved an experimental Quicksilver Ultralight Sprint MXII.
