AUSTIN -- An Austin man was charged Monday with attempting to kidnap a woman from a Walmart parking lot.
Vicker Jenkins, 48, was arrested Saturday night. According to his arrest affidavit, Jenkins approached a woman at the Walmart off 1030 Norwood Park Boulevard around 9 p.m. as the woman unloaded groceries into her trunk.
After the woman refused his help, Jenkins allegedly grabbed the woman, pulled out a knife and demanded she get in the backseat.
When she tried to run away, a second man blocked her path.
She managed to break free and run to a nearby bus stop where witnesses helped her call 911.
Jenkins, who has an extensive criminal history, was charged with attempted aggravated kidnapping, a second degree felony.
His bail is set at $50,000.
