AUSTIN -- A man's in the Travis County jail after trying to take a taser away from an Austin police officer.
Edwin Brooks Mobley, 26, is charged with attempting to take a weapon from a peace officer.
According to his arrest affidavit, he was arguing with his girlfriend at their apartment Wednesday evening. Officers arrested him but Mobley managed to slip one hand out of his handcuffs and started to run away.
When an officer tried to restrain him, Mobley reached for his taser. Other officers arrived and helped restrain him.
Jail records show Mobley is also charged with assault causing bodily injury and resisting arrest.
His total bond is set at $17,500.
