HARLINGEN, Texas -- The man accused of killing another during a shootout at a Travis County auto shop has been captured while swimming across the Rio Grande.
According to KGBT-TV in Harlingen, Roy Rogers Soliz, 58, was captured by authorities while trying to cross the Rio Grande along the U.S.-Mexico border in Cameron County.
KGBT-TV reports that authorities saw a man swimming across the river into the U.S. from Mexico, and they quickly arrested him.
When they confirmed his identity, they realized he had a warrant out for his arrest.
The Travis County Sheriff's Office says Soliz is accused of shooting Christopher Carson, 38, at an auto shop at Howard Lane and Metric Boulevard in January. Carson died at a Round Rock hospital.
A woman inside the shop was also taken to the hospital to be checked out, but officials say she was not injured.
Travis County officials say Soliz and Carson knew each other, and they believe the shooting was not a random act of violence.
KGBT-TV reports that Soliz is currently being held in the Carrizales-Rucker Detention Center in Olmito, Texas.
