Police have identified the suspect in a school bomb scare this week as a juvenile male from Saudi Arabia.  His threat was enough to cause the evacuations of both Live Oak Elementary and Deerpark Middle School, which are both in the Round Rock Independent School District.

Officials say the suspect also called some of the students who were threatened by using phone numbers from their facebook pages.  Police believe he may still be in contact with some of them.

Though the students thought the suspect was local, Sgt. John Foster with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Department says that was never the case.

“He was never here, the threat was never here,” Sgt. Foster said.  “All of this occurred in Saudi Arabia.”

Foster also said Deerpark appeared to be randomly targeted.

Students told KVUE they believed the suspect found them through a fan page on facebook.  The FBI has since opened an investigation, and the Williamson County Attorney’s Office could file charges.

In the meantime, school officials are calling this a wake-up call.  Parent Jill McCune says she will continue to ask her 8th grade son Chase about his friends on facebook.

“It annoys me,” he said.  “But I am going to thank her one day.”
