AUSTIN -- The LIVESTRONG Foundation and the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon have parted ways.

The organizations released a statement Tuesday announcing their mutual agreement to conclude the nonprofit's role as title sponsor.

Both organizations announced a three-year title sponsorship of the LIVESTRONG Austin Marathon and Half Marathon in June 2010. The LIVESTRONG Foundation raised almost $1 million during the last three years through it's Team LIVESTRONG program.

"The LIVESTRONG Foundation has had a successful partnership with the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon," said Greg Lee, LIVESTRONG Foundation Chief Financial Officer, in a press release. "The change in the foundation's role as title sponsor achieves two goals for our organization: continued generous access to Austin tradition, combined with an opportunity to explore additional fundraising and fitness options for supporters who want to take action and improve the lives of people affected by cancer."

Team LIVESTRONG will continue to participate in the marathon in 2014 and 2015. Marathon organizers have not announced a new title sponsor.
