AUSTIN, Texas--Last minute shoppers searched Sunday for creative costumes to wear for Halloween. At Lucy in Disguise on South Congress in South Austin, their choices ranged from the creative to the bizarre.
“They are looking for 40s, 50s and 60s costumes, things from Mad Men, Pan Am, Lady Gaga,” said Lucy in Disguise employee Wendy Wright.
According to the National Retail Federation the top five choices for adult costumes include a witch, vampire, pirate, zombie and Batman.
Political costumes are also a hit this year. TJ Finick looked for a tie to be Herman Cain for Halloween.
"I'm really big into politics, so it's a natural fit. I think I can pull it off," said Finick.
The NRF found nearly seven in 10 Americans will celebrate Halloween, and the average person will spend $72.31 in decorations, costumes and candy. Total Halloween spending is expected at $6.86 billion.
