It's a hectic time at area grocery stores,as people rush to buy the last minute items they need to have a successful Thanksgiving holiday.
The parking lot at the HEB at 183 and Braker Lane began filling early. By 8 a.m. the parking lot was full, and shoppers packed the aisles looking for pie filling, roasting pans spices and much more.
Many were even buying frozen turkeys, knowing they wouldn't be thawed in time for the big Thanksgiving meal.
"I'll cook it probably Friday, it's not gonna go tomorrow -- it's too frozen," said Joe Goodart.
At Whole Foods in downtown Austin, many decided to skip the whole cooking part of the day and bought ready made Thanksgiving meals with organic turkey and all the trimmings.
That store's beer and wine section stayed very busy as well -- most stores see a surge in alcohol sales once the holidays roll around.
HEB, Randalls and Whole Foods will be open on Thanksgiving Day. Call your local store to check the times.
