TRAVIS COUNTY -- Because of the prolonged drought, the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) is asking the state to send less water downstream to rice farmers for a second straight year.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality will make the final decision.
Farther north, a Stage 1 drought watch has been declared for Lake Georgetown. Activated by the Brazos River Authority, it triggers a voluntary reduction of five percent for customers using the lake's water.
