KVUE offers historic broadcast on 50th anniversary of JFK assassination

AUSTIN – KVUE offers a historic broadcast event on Friday Nov. 22 titled "JFK DALLAS: 50 NOVEMBERS." Witness the actual breaking news footage surrounding the JFK assassination commercial free, just as it aired 50 years ago.

Collecting archival materials from WFAA in Dallas, KVUE will broadcast the landmark television event from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The event will also be offered through streaming video on KVUE.com. This unique experience will provide viewers the opportunity to witness a moment in history again, or for the very first time.

Highlights of the broadcast will include:

  • JFK speech at breakfast in Fort Worth
  • JFK arrival at Love Field in Dallas
  • Cut-in 10 minutes after shooting of President Kennedy and Governor John Connolly
  • Eyewitness accounts
  • First live interview with Abraham Zapruder
  • Announcement of the death of President Kennedy
  • Announcement of the shooting and death of Dallas Police Officer JD Tippit
  • First film of School Book Depository and Texas Theater
  • First picture/film of Lee Harvey Oswald
  • President Kennedy’s body arriving at Andrews Air Force Base
  • President Johnson’s first address to the nation from Andrews Air Force Base
