AUSTIN – Video shot by Travis County Sheriff jailers gave a better picture of District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg’s demeanor after her DWI arrest last weekend.
Jailers are heard telling Lehmberg that they were shooting the video for her own protection, after they say she was combative and not following orders.
“Do you know what you're doing?” questioned Lehmberg to a guard.
“Yes ma’am. We’ve asked you plenty of times to stop kicking the door and you didn’t stop kicking the door,” a guard replied to her.
Lehmberg was also forced to wear a spit guard and was placed in a restraint chair.
In the video, Lehmberg can be heard and seen repeatedly asking to use her cell phone. She kept asking jail employees if they’ve called Greg referring to Sheriff Greg Hamilton.
Lehmberg was sentenced to 45 days in jail Friday and a fine of $4,000. She will also lose her drivers license for six months.
Video from the dashboard of the Travis County deputy who stopped Lehmberg is expected to be released on Monday.
