AUSTIN -- Temperatures climbed above 32 degrees Friday morning after hours of freezing, wet weather.

Drivers, emergency responders and Texas Department of Transportation crews had a long and messy night around Central Texas.

There are still some slick spots in parking lots and residential streets. Looking at MoPac, you'd think the winter storm produced rain, not sleet or snow.

Many cars were seen sliding on the road before dawn. Others spun their wheels trying to get traction.

Traffic was slow and steady at U.S. 183 and RR 620 in Cedar Park Friday. No crashes were seen in that area.

Warmer temperatures will begin Friday afternoon, although sidewalks and parking lots may still be slippery.

Austin-Travis County EMS reported nine slips and falls on the ice since midnight.
