AUSTIN -- Icy roads caused a number of crashes in Southeast Austin on Saturday. KVUE's crew even had to pull over at one point because their van was sliding on the icy roads.

Along Highway 71 cars were sliding over a bridge east of the State Highway 45 toll road. Along with dozens of other drivers, Todd Davidson decided to pull over after he witnessed two different crashes.

"We just passed two multi-car collisions, probably about six to eight cars. In both of them within half a mile and then on the other side another lady ran into the side rail," he said.

Icy conditions on Highways 130, 45, 35 and 71 made for dangerous conditions and road closures.

TxDOT spent the night treating the roads, specifically bridges and overpasses where ice is problematic.
