Starting Wednesday, the public will be able celebrate the holiday season by viewing the giant gingerbread village at the Hyatt Regency Austin.

The festive construction took Chef Javier Ortiz and Hyatt staff over 248 hours to engineer, prepare, and construct. It is made up of 80 pounds of icing and 35 pounds of candy.

This year, the gingerbread village features a new scene with a focus on the Texas Capitol.

The village is located in the Hyatt lobby and is open from Dec. 1 through Dec. 27.
