The Austin community fought back Saturday afternoon against an apparent hate motivated assault. Nearly a thousand people turned out in solidarity to march against hate.

In a symbolic effort Austin's straight and gay community walked side by side.  They walked from OilCan Harry's,  a well known gay bar in the Warehouse District,  to City Hall.  They retraced the steps where Matthew Morgan and Emmanuel Winston were jumped by four men last week. The two men say they were attacked because they are gay. Those who turned out said the time for ignorance and hate is over.

“As a straight grandmother of two little boys 5 and 7, I want the world to be safe for everybody,” said Mary Morrison. “Austin already has that reputation, and I just want to say those are God's children who got beaten up the other night.”

Friday, The Austin Police Department released surveillance video of the  four suspects.  This video was captured by a City Hall camera. It shows who police believe are the four attackers walking along Lavaca Street before the attack and then walking away after the attack.  They're all described as black  men in their early 20's with thin builds. If you have any information call Crimestoppers at 472-TIPS.
