AUSTIN -- The Austin Humane Society is celebrating a successful holiday season with more than 400 animals being adopted into loving homes.

The "Home for the Holday" promotion event ran from December through Jan. 7 with reduced and waived adoption fees.

Officials say over the course of the event, 134 dogs, 126 cats, 32 puppes and 110 kittens were taken home by loving families.

However the shelter remains at capacity.

“This was our most successful Home for the Holidays event, and we appreciate all the people who opened their hearts to these wonderful dogs and cats,”says Frances Jonon, AHS Executive Director. “AHS is constantly taking in new animals, and we want to match them with loving owners so we can continue to save the lives of homeless pets. The new year is a great time to welcome an addition to your family.”

You can visit the shelter at 124 West Anderson Lane. For more information click here.
