AUSTIN -- We recognize the best in almost every sport with a hall of fame, now there is a way to recognize those who have saved lives.
The Organ Donor Hall of Fame was on display at the Capitol Monday. It displayed names and stories of dozens of Texans who have saved lives through their organs.
Chad Jones, 21, died after a motorcycle accident in 2009. On the second anniversary of his death his parents created the hall of fame.
"We decided that this was the appropriate way to honor organ and living donors and we created the hall of fame showcasing the heroes that have saved lives by donating organs," said Chad's mother Sheree Jones.
There are 112 people in the hall of fame right now, but currently there are more than 118,000 people waiting for an organ donation.
