Austin - South By Southwest announced Friday that Dave Grohl will be the keynote speaker for the 2013 music festival and conference. The keynote will take place on Thursday, March 14 at the Austin Convention Center.
Grohl making his recorded debut as the drummer for Nirvana on 1991's generation-defining Nevermind. He took center stage with Foo Fighters on their self-titled 1995 debut.
Grohl's collaborations have included Paul McCartney, David Bowie, Neil Young, Tenacious D, and Nine Inch Nails. More recently Grohl has been working on Sound City: Reel to Reel, his forthcoming debut as a feature documentary director and producer. The film focuses both on the history of the legendary Van Nuys, CA studio and the fight to preserve the human element of music in an increasingly digital world.
The Dave Grohl keynote will be open to Music and Platinum registrants and registered showcasing artists.
