WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas -- Monday Governor Rick Perry appointed Williamson County Assistant District Attorney Stacey Mathews to replace Ken Anderson as judge of the 277th District Court.

Mathews also served as an assistant DA in Harris County.

Anderson resigned last month and faces a civil case brought by the State Bar of Texas over his handing of the Michael Morton case as a prosecutor in the 1980s.

Mathews' term will last until the next general election.
