AUSTIN -- Girl Scouts of Central Texas has kicked off its 100th anniversary year and cookie program. KVUE.com Online Correspondent Rebekah Hood sat down with Director of Marketing for Girl Scouts of Central Texas Lolis Garcia-Baab to talk about the 100th anniversary, what Girl Scouts are learning in 2012, cookie sales and more.
Cookie sales started Jan. 18, and will last through Feb. 24. Buyers will notice a new box in the mix this year. The Shortbread commemorative cookie box honors the Centennial year for Girl Scouts.
According to Girl Scouts, cookie purchases could help girls pay for camp, purchase uniforms and badges, fly a troop to a destination of their choice, or buy school supplies for needy kids. It could also cheer up a soldier far from home.
