GEORGETOWN, Texas -- The Georgetown Animal Shelter is asking for help in giving somewhat wild cats a new home.
Every month, the shelter receives cats who are not adoptable as pets because they are semi-feral and are better suited to living on a farm or a ranch.
The shelter is giving away several barn cats for free to anyone with a ranch or a farm who want help with rodent control. Officials say each cat will be spayed or neutered and given a rabies vaccination.
These cats are not meant to be house pets but can live happily outdoors and are good for pest control. If you take home one of these pets, officials say it's best to keep them confined to a barn area for a couple of weeks until they get used to it and feel safe.
