A temporary, toll-free period for the new 1.5-mile stretch of the Manor Expressway ends Jan. 5.
The toll road is located in the median of U.S. 290, near U.S. 183 northeast of Austin. Portions of the road started opening in December 2012. They've been operating free of toll charges since then.

The Manor Expressway will eventually extend 6.2 miles from U.S. 183 to east of Parmer Lane in Manor. The full project is expected to open in 2014. Construction of the entire stretch will cost $426 milion.
