AUSTIN -- Rain in next week's forecast has left Onion Creek residents worried about how the weather will affect upcoming flood clean-up efforts in the area.
Residents said recovery efforts will continue for a long time due to the extensive damage. Fences fell down, debris littered the road and many homes were wet and filled with debris.
In the two block area between Crystal Bend and Crooked Creek, dozens of people were evacuated. Rescue boats carried about 30 people to safety, then to a shelter. When some people returned, their backyards were torn up and homes were filled with water.
"Fences are down. Everything inside of the house is gone," said flood survivor Edwin Driska.
"I don't have any insureance, not yet, this time. I have insurance, but I don't know if it will cover for the flooding," said resident Dora Reyes.
Churches and Austin disaster relief programs are working with some of these families to dry out the homes and keep families from getting sick.
