AUSTIN -- According to Austin-Travis County EMS, paramedics have taken a 16-year-old girl to a Round Rock hospital after they say she jumped from a moving school bus.

EMS says the incident happened Thursday around 8:45 a.m. at Millwright Parkway and Anderson Mill Road in Northwest Austin.

The girl reportedly opened the back door of the bus and jumped out. Alarms went off, and the bus driver pulled over.

The teen hit her head when she jumped. She was conscious and talking when paramedics arrived.

Round Rock ISD says the bus was heading to Westwood High School. Speeds in that area are said to be 25 mph.

The ISD says another bus was sent to pick up the remaining students and take them to campus.
