AUSTIN -- Officials say a two-story house fire southeast of Bauerle Ranch Park in South Austin on Sunday is under control.
The fire was reported about 12:40 p.m. in the 2000 block of Desco Drive near Manchaca Road.
Emergency dispatch reported that firefighters initially responded to heavy smoke and flames in the attic, but the fire quickly spread to lower levels of the house. More than 40 firefighters battled the flames for more than 30 minutes.
Four adults were displaced and the home was heavily damaged. The owners' dogs were also displaced, and only three of the four dogs have been located. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
