ROUND ROCK, Texas -- Dell has reached a deal with investor Carl Ichan as it considers several buyout offers.

Ichan and the special committee overseeing the effort to privatize the Round Rock-based computer company have agreed to cap his share of the company at no more than 10 percent.

In exchange, Icahn is allowed to talk to other shareholders about putting together a superior proposal to the one on the table from Silver Lake Partners and Microsoft that is backed by Michael Dell.

A third potential buyer, Blackstone Group has also submitted an offer.
