AUSTIN -- The Texas Department of Public Safety has increased the reward for the capture of a sex offender.

A reward of $13,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of Charles Leon Carr, 56. DPS says the tip must come during the month of October, though.

"This program has worked multiple times. As soon as we send out a release like this, within days that individual has been captured," Trooper Robbie Barrera said. "Crime Stoppers is an awesome program. It makes awareness in the community of these individuals that are just living there and they had no idea."

Carr was sentenced to 99 years in prison in 1975 for the sexual assault of an 11-year-old. He was released in 2008. Carr was last known to live in Austin. He also has ties to El Paso. DPS says he is wanted for violating his probation and parole.

Carr is about six feet tall and weighs around 190 pounds. He has a tattoo of a skull on his upper right arm and a tattoo of a dagger with a skull and roses on the outside of his upper left arm. He also has a scar on the inside of his right knee, as well as one on his right hand.

See his Wanted bulletin here.

If you have information on Carr's whereabouts, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-252-TIPS or text DPS with your tip to 274637(CRIMES). You can also submit your tip online here.
