AUSTIN -- A SWAT situation came to a deadly end in North Austin.

Police were called to check on a possibly suicidal man at the Stone Hollow Apartments around 5:15 p.m. Sunday, near Stone Hollow Drive and Metric Boulevard.

APD says the man had barricaded himself inside one of the apartment units, and when they heard shots fired, the SWAT team was called in.

Officers trying to contact the man sent a bomb squad robot inside the apartment to look around. They located the man who had a self inflicted gunshot wound.

Capital Metro buses were used to evacuate people from the apartment complex while the SWAT situation was underway.
