A bicyclist was taken to the hospital Monday with critical injuries after being run over by an 18-wheeler.
The accident happened after 8 a.m. at FM 620 and El Salido Parkway in Northwest Austin.
Police say the cyclist was stopped at a red light in the left lane of eastbound 620. When the light turned green, she started to go, but veered toward the right lane in front of the 18-wheeler. The truck clipped her wheel and she fell underneath the truck.
The cyclist, whose name was not released, was taken to a Round Rock hospital with non-life threatening injuries to her legs. An EMS spokeskesperson tells KVUE news her leg was amputated.
The crash remains under investigation.
