AUSTIN -- One person was seriously injured when a car and an Austin Fire Department fire truck collided in Northwest Austin.
The incident happened around 6 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Braker Lane and Research Boulevard. AFD says a fire truck was heading to an emergency and traveling west on Braker with its sirens on.
As the truck paused to look for oncoming traffic, a white car slammed into the front passenger side of the truck. The car spun and the fire truck pushed it about four feet across the road.
The driver of the white car was taken to a Round Rock hospital with serious injuries. No firefighters were hurt.
The road reopened just before 8 a.m.
