The first Red Line train left Leander at 5:25 a.m. and arrived in Downtown Austin right on time an hour later. There have been no delays or problems as it runs from Leander to Downtown, picking up and dropping off passengers along the way.
Capital Metro says 52 people were on board the first train that took off from Leander this morning -- some of the passengers we spoke with told us the ride was smooth, uneventful and to quote one person -- "just great."
Capital Metro says there were no problems reported along the route, and everything went according to plan. The red line train will run through 9:25 Monday morning, and resume again during evening rush hour, between 3:45 and 7:42 p.m.
Capital Metro and Austin police are being vigilant about track safety, reminding people to use designated crossings, observe warning signs and don't run, walk or cycle along the tracks.
Early Monday morning, one man was seen driving the wrong way down the tracks downtown, he was stopped by Capital Metro workers.
