AUSTIN -- Downtown hosted about 5,000 Boy Scout, who each brought five or more canned goods for donation.
The idea was to help the campaign, Souper Bowl of Caring, achieve its goal of collecting one million meals for the hungry.
"It's a chance for us to do more good, to help more Central Texans in need," said Charles Mead, Boy Scouts spokesman. "We think it's a perfect fit between our two organizations."
The Boy Scouts held a parade through Downtown Austin before delivering their annual "Report to State," at the the capitol. It details community service, achievements and activities from across Texas.
