AUSTIN -- An amazing piece of American history went on display in Austin Monday morning.

The LBJ Library and Museum exhibited the Bible that George Washington placed his hand on as he took the oath of office to became our nation's first president.

The Bible is open to chapters 49 and 50 of Genesis, the actual pages Washington touched.

Warren G. Harding, Dwight Eisenhower, Jimmy Carter, and George H.W. Bush also used it for their oaths.

A Masonic lodge in New York owns the Bible. The book was on display in Austin for only one day.
