AUSTIN -- Hundreds of students from Bedichek Middle School tried to break a world record Friday.
In an effort to promote good classroom behavior and attendance, students were treated to an afternoon water balloon toss.
School officials say more than 900 kids were eligible for the toss.
Around 3 p.m. students lined up around the school track to toss balloons to a fellow students.
A creative teacher came up with the idea.
If validated, that would shatter the current record water balloon toss, which currently stands at 432.
Because it would have cost nearly €7,000, or $11,200 USD to send in a Guinness World Record official. Travis County Precinct 3 Judge Susan Steeg officiated the event. And several different cameras captured the spectacle.
The video will be sent off to London for official Guiness judging. No word on when confirmation of the record will be sent back stateside.
