BASTROP COUNTY, Texas -- The Bastrop County Sheriff's Department says it welcomes an FBI investigation into a taser incident that left a high school student in a coma.

KVUE broke the news of that investigation on Thursday night.

On Friday the department issued a statement saying, "We will fully cooperate and assist the FBI with anything they may need to ensure that a complete and thorough investigation is done."

Last November, Deputy Randy McMillan tased Noe Nino de Rivera in a hallway at Cedar Creek High School.

The sheriff's department claimed he interfered as deputies tried to break up a fight, but surveillance video appears to show him backing away when McMillan tased him.

The investigation is being conducted out of the FBI's San Antonio office.
