Two Austin sisters who are victims of a home burglary where valuables and invaluables were taken got some bittersweet, mostly sweet news on Wednesday.
An east Austin woman called sisters Leah and Cayah Haney on Wednesday to say that she found their dog Banner roaming around the East Riverside area.
"I never would have known how sad I would have been to lose him until I actually did", said Cayah Haney.
Banner, a two-year old pure bred French Bulldog was taken during a burglary of two homes on west North Loop Sunday, November 22nd around 3 p.m. Austin police say the burglar or burglars took laptop computers, flat screen televisions and Banner.
"It was like there was a dark cloud was over everything and now it's like the sky has parted and he's back home!", said a relieved Leah Haney.
Austin police don't believe the woman who found Banner is connected to his disappearance.
Detective Jeff Gabler with APD's Property Theft Unit also says he doesn't believe that Banner was the target of the crime.
An anonymous tip led detectives to question two people of interest both of whom were questioned by police on Friday.
"There's some people out there who know who these people are and the dog has been returned and I feel great about that but I also want to get the bad guys and put them where they need to be", said Gabler.
The detective also told KVUE that the people responsible for the burglary and thefts are facing second degree felonies punishable by two-to-20 years in prison.
A neighbor got a very vague description of two young Hispanic men seen leaving the home shortly after the burglary in a burgundy Mazda, possibly a 626 or Protege.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call Austin Crimestoppers at 472-TIPS.
