AUSTIN -- A man was struck by a car as he was directing traffic away from his broken down 18-wheeler Friday evening.
The accident occurred at the northbound service road of U.S. 183 at Anderson Mill Road just after 8 p.m.
The broken down 18-wheeler was being towed by a pickup truck. The truck attempted to move in to the access road but couldn't make the move on its own so the driver stepped out of the vehicle to divert traffic.
It was then that two cars on the road swerved to avoid hitting the driver but one car accidentally struck him.
The driver was taken to Seton Williamson in Round Rock and is in critical condition.
