AUSTIN – High winds and gusty conditions caused some challenging moments for Austinites who were outside Tuesday.
For the majority of the day a heavy breeze bustled in from the south.
Then as dusk settled the high winds seemed to switch directions coming in from the north.
Players on the greens at the Lion’s Municipal Golf Course in West Austin had to adjust their games.
“If you hit it too high the wind is going to take it wherever it blows and the biggest challenge is to try to keep it low and in play and not really try to kill it,” said Doug Kennedy, a golfer at Lion’s Municipal Golf Course.
“It's tough. You've got to shoot the ball a little bit lower. I mean it's definitely a lot more challenging,” said Robert Wong, another golfer.
Across town at Zilker Park we found a group of folks practicing kite boarding, a practice usually reserved for the water.
“You need good steady winds. Today is not all that great. It's kind of gusty instead of steady,” said kite boarder Richard Cathriner.
