Monday afternoon Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell will commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Memorial Day Flood; 13 people died in that tragedy in 1981.
City officials unveiled a website in March to collect testimonials about the flooding. Eighty-five flood survivors have responded so far, and nine videos and nearly 200 photos have been posted.
The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 12:15 at one of the worst flood sites that fateful day -- the greenbelt on Jefferson Street near 39th Street.
