AUSTIN -- An Austin man was charged Wednesday with assaulting a police officer.
According to the arrest affidavit, police stopped 26-year-old Brian Caldwell at Leona and East 13th Streets Tuesday after he rolled through a stop sign.
The officer said he noticed marijuana in the car. When he tried to conduct a search, Caldwell closed the door on the officer's hand, hit the gas and dragged the officer.
Another officer on the other side of the car had his foot run over.
Police later arrested Caldwell at his mother's house.
He is charged with aggravated assault of a peace officer with a deadly weapon. His bail is set at $75,000.
