AUSTIN -- For the third year in a row, Austin's homeless population has dropped.
Each year, a group called the Ending Community Homelessness Coalition conducts a survey, trying to get an accurate count.
According to KVUE's exclusive content partners at the Austin American-Statesman, volunteers counted 1,987 homeless people this year, compared to 2,090 last year.
They counted 2,244 in 2012 and 2,362 in 2011.
Ann Howard, executive director of the Ending Community Homelessness Coalition, says the drop reflects a growing number of low-income housing options in Austin.
