AUSTIN-- A local racing team took home the trophy from one of the Grand Am races at Circuit of the Americas on Saturday.

Driver Stevan McAleer drove the number 5 Mazda Miata for CJ Wilson racing in the Continental Tire Challenge ST division. He nabbed first place.

It was a great comeback for the local team on home turf. They didn't finish in the last race, the first race of the season at Daytona, because debris on the track punctured the radiator.

On Sunday, they unloaded the winning car back at the teams garage in Northeast Austin.

It returns for modifications before heading out to the next race of the series.

This team is getting quite a bit of media attention following the win.

You might recognize the owner's name, CJ Wilson.

He played baseball for the Texas Rangers before currently playing for the Los Angeles Angels.

His team is here because Wilson partnered with the team manager, Andris Laivins, who lives in Austin.

"To finally break through and get a win, at our home track, with lots of our friends and family here, is huge," Laivins said.

The team has been in the Austin area about five years and has been racing at this level for two.

They're now preparing for the next race of the season in Birmingham, Alabama.

Here is a schedule for the series:
